Essentia(ESS)-Blockchain Platform to Access Your Digital Life

Have you known a decentralized system that gives access to your digital life? Essentia describes itself as “the framework for your decentralized digital life.” Essentia ESS aims to build and offer a complete modular framework for users. That framework will allow users to have full control of their data, identity information, privacy, and assets. The platform functions as a decentralized operating system. It can be accessed by humans, machines, IoT devices, and more. With Essentia, decentralized and centralized resources are integrated in one single place. Things like user data and personal data are connected to someone’s digital ID, and that digital ID can be anonymous, pseudo anonymous, or public. Overall, the Essentia whitepaper describes the platform as “the multi-asset and multichain decentralization swiss-knife that everyone can use and own.” In more straightforward terms, Essentia is a persistent digital ID you can use across multiple platforms, services, and environments. Essentia implementations can already be seen in Ethereum, EtherDelta, Storj, and IPFS, among other major blockchain platforms.
How Dose Essentia(ESS) Work?
Essentia aims to create a full-featured and personalized platform. The platform’s functions are built from the “Seed” outward, relying on fundamental cryptographic capabilities like sign, verify, encrypt, and decrypt. The Essentia whitepaper explains it much better than I can. “Essentia is a modular framework that is bootstrapped from a Seed by deriving its extended keys in a hierarchical deterministic way and by associating to them their related “data” that are available encrypted on decentralized storage or on local copies/backups. Such data are associated to their corresponding labelled extended keys and are interpreted by the system, and by its components, as “registry entries,” configurations and content to be used when loading their related modules that compose the framework accordingly.” The “Seed” in Essentia refers to the user’s data. The user (or the machine) is the only one with full ownership, access, and control over the seed, including all connected IDs, data, assets, and more associated with that seed. The Essentia framework can be used indifferently by humans or machines (machines could include servers, IoT devices, etc.). Some of the available modules in the Essentia framework include the IDs, login, KeyRing, DApp center, wallet, account-less exchange, decentralized exchange, decentralized storage, prediction markets, a decentralized VPN, a social DApp, crypto nodes, and more. These are just some of the front-end modules that can be built inside the Essentia framework – all with a single click. As long as the user has his Seed, he or she will always be able to load and use their own customized decentralized framework from anywhere, on any kind of host machine or system, and even in virtualized environments. Obviously, all of this is very technical, and the Essentia whitepaper goes into deep detail about every aspect of the platform. The layman’s explanation of Essentia is that it’s a persistent, secure digital identity that can be used by both humans and smart devices. That identity can be carriedacross multiple applications and devices – like a social network on your smartphone and a decentralized exchange on your home computer. The platform is built to emphasize privacy, control, and a lack of censorship. You can login with a single, persistent ID across multiple platforms, for example, taking back ownership of your data and selectively sharing it with different parties. Today, a number of major blockchain projects already have integrations in Essentia. Projects like Gnosis, Ethereum, EtherDelta, Status, IPFS, Storj, and Aragon, for example, all have integrations in Essentia.
Essentia(ESS)-Key Fetures
Essentia’s core features include all of the following
· A highly customizable, modular, decentralized framework usable by humans or machines
· Decentralized, blockchain-based digital identifies for humans and machines
· Trustless, trustable, and secure data backed by strong cryptography
· Private, with only the user having full and total ownership and control of the platform
· A single personal, custom, environment (similar to a desktop-based operating system) where users can manage and interact with multiple IDs, data, assets, decentralized and centralized resources, cross-chain resources and communications, and more
· Decentralized, available 24/7, and permanent
· Available cross-chain, multi-chain, and multi-protocol
· Modular, flexible, and scalable
· Privacy-focused environment with anti-censorship, persistent, and non-corruptible data
· Open source and open hardware, including both software and hardware implementations available
· Language and host agnostic
· Fault-proof and future proof
Overall, Essentia claims to be “moving back the weighing needle” to the real sense of decentralization. While others try to “re-centralize” decentralized resources by creating artificial needs of an intermediary for users, Essentia is rebuilding a decentralized system “to a more radical and original layer”. In layman’s terms, they see themselves as embracing the spirit of early decentralization – a spirit they feel we’ve moved away from and all.
Essentia(ESS)-The Team
Essentia is being developed by a non-profit organization named Essentia One, based in Amsterdam. The organization was founded in 2017.
The Design
Essentia in shape and built with a modular architecture that can scale to use, and configure an infrastructure to match custom, personal settings or resource-intensive applications, automated or IoT framework. Suitable beginners and expert users daily. The Essentia framework can be bootstrapped or deployed in a browser, mobile platforms and Operating Systems, on any desktop, server or dedicated machine. It can be virtualized while eventually taking advantage of distributed computing. While evolving towards being a fully decentralized framework, Essentia also implements hybrid solutions that integrate smart contracts and other on-chain components. They work as bridges, and modules, executing the on/off-chain events and operations. The ESS-ID, the core of the system, can be used and controlled via a dedicated hardware-key (wallet), offering a higher level of security to all the operations and interactions of the user. Essentia’scomponents and all user data are maintained on decentralized storage and encrypted by default. The user is also able to back them up fully encrypted on local storage for offline access or use. This local data is synchronized with the data on decentralized storage at the first connection opportunity.
Essentia(ESS)-The FrameWork
The user - a human or a machine - can generate their own root ESS-ID (and then, eventually, the connected Sub-IDs) and be able to abstract, link, register, save their anonymous-identity, and eventually data, on the blockchain and on decentralized storage. Through the ESS-Key, users can access/use/manage their IDs and any connected data. They can also use it as a “universal-key” to access/use/interact with third-party services such as Dapps and smart-contracts, extending to any on-chain or off-chain integrated resource, service or third-party and all.
Essentia(ESS)-The Conclusion
Essentia is a persistent, secure, censorship-free, and privacy-focused digital identity system built on blockchain technology. The system is built with decentralization in mind: the team wants to offer full control of decentralization into the hands of users by enabling on-chain and off-chain interoperability between users, machines, and third parties. Overall, Essentia wants to create the framework for your decentralized digital life.
